Out of the Office…

Those of you who received my newsletter already know that I am out of town until the 29th. But just in case I wanted to put a quick post up for anyone who may not have got the newsletter. Dan and I are celebrating our 5th anniversary in Maui, HI! So far the trip has been wonderful. It feels good just to relax and enjoy the ocean. Dan has spent everyday snorkeling and I have been relaxing on the beach! I will be back to posting as soon as I return (although I may get a post or two up before I am back…We shall see)

Aloha!

Bliss Wall Collection Share

I love being able to share photos of my clients “finished” images on their walls. Not only is it exciting for me to see the final product being displayed but I love for my clients to see what you can do with your images. The Kealoha Family sent me these photos of the “Nesting Trio” collection. It is three 16×20 images printed on canvas and framed. It is one of our more popular collections. I want to thank Mark and Mecca for taking the time to photograph the images on your wall! They look beautiful!

Halloween at Bliss!

We are preparing for our second annual Halloween Day at Bliss!  Last year was awesome and I am very excited to have another Halloween Day.  I wanted to give some of you a head start on signing up before I “officially” announce the event.  We will be offering 15 minute mini-sessions of your children in their Halloween Costume on Oct. 31 from 10-3. We will have a special Halloween set for the session. Each session will be $50.00 which include one 8×10 of your choice. We will also have 3 special packages for the event if you wish to upgrade to one of them. The best part of this is there will be a costume contest and of course a “Trick or Treat” from us! The photo here is last years winner Alexandra!  If you want to get signed up please email or call me soon. More information will be posted and emailed the beginning of October.

Look forward to seeing the creative Costumes!

Lexi’s Senior Session SlideShow!

Pin Up Party…

I had a PinUp Party with Melissa, Shannon and Samantha awhile back but Samantha’s husband checks my blog. Her images were a surprise for their anniversary so if he say any of the images of Shannon or Melissa on the blog he might have had a clue.  So Sam asked me to hold off until their anniversary. Sam’s images were posted on a previous post but I still wanted to show a couple from her friends. All three girls were a blast to work with! One of the reasons I wanted to shoot Boudoir Sessions was so I could help capture the Beauty in women. I dont want to change who someone is but instead find their inner beauty and capture it. Clients who seem to be nervous at first I can quickly make feel at ease. PinUp Parties also seem to help with the nerves. Instead…Everyone gets excited and it becomes a Party! Just in case you are wondering…At a PinUp party everyone is not in the room watching while you get photographed.  I have Laura doing makeup in the front room and then put on music or a movie in the sales room until it is your turn. If this is something you are interested in doing contact me and we can chat some more.

Picking the images to post on my blog from a boudoir session is always a challenge. My favorites are not always “appropriate” blog posts. As of now I am only showcasing boudoir images on the blog so its important to me that I get to post at least a couple. I thank all my clients for letting me do so! I have many sample images/albums in the studio and would be happy to share with anyone interested in a session.

Here are a couple images from Melissa and Shannon…

Little Bliss Friends

I know this is a silly post but I could not help myself. We have a bunch of squirrels that wonder around my complex and are the BRAVEST squirrels I have even seen.  They come all the way up to my front door and “beg” for food…Like a dog! Its crazy.  They cause me to feel guilty when I dont have anything to give them. I think I need squirrel food? Whatever that would be? Any suggestions?  I tried to give this little guy chips but he was not interested. I am pretty sure if I had something he did like he would have took it from my hand. Dan said I gave him the wrong kind of chips…Doritos would have been better. However I dont think Doritos are good for animals? I mean they are not good for us right?

Here is a couple photos that Dave Hutt took (I was busy trying to feed the squirrel chips) Thanks Dave!

Bliss Lighting Workshop-Recap

I wanted to share a few images from the Lighting Workshop that Dave Hutt and I taught a couple weeks ago at the studio.  We taught the “Rules” of lighting and then how to break them!  Okay…There is not “Rules” that you must follow but we taught more of an understanding about what different lights do and how they affect the subject. We taught how to use strobes and then how to not. It was a full day of information that left our students overwhelmed! In a good way that is! I want to thank everyone who attended! Dave and I had a really good time and are excited to announce our next workshop will be Nov. 1! If you are interested let us know!

Here are a couple of images from the day…

Dave taught the first half of the class and I failed to take any image (Sorry Dave!) I think I might have been nervous about my half :)   He managed to snag a few images of my part…so THANK YOU DAVE for taking a couple photos and for letting me use them on my blog!

Here are a couple of my images that I took of our Bliss Model, Tammy!

One of our students, Scott Crist, being a cloud for Tammy (Thanks Scott)…

Which resulted in this shot…

A couple of testimonials from the workshop (thanks guys)…

“I really wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed the workshop on Sunday. Wow, was I tired after! I look forward to more workshops with you guys.” -Jasmine P.

“I wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed the workshop on Sunday. It was fun, as well as informative and the day just flew by! I loved the diversity of styles and the models were great. I would definitely be interested in any other workshops that you offer and look forward to hearing about future ones.” -Debbie D.

Lexi’s Senior Photos…

Some of you may have seen a couple photos of Lexi on the Bliss Newsletter that went out this morning and now I want to get Lexi’s real sneak peek on the blog for everyone to see.  Lexi was awesome to work with! I was drawn to her beautiful blue eyes and like I mentioned on the newsletter her blue prom dress ROCKED!  Lexi had a double session, Urban and Location and also added makeup by our fabulous Laura with Blushing Beauty. We went around SE Portland and then the Pearl District for the location part.

Lexi…I hope you had as much fun as I did! Thanks for having me take your senior photos! Enjoy your sneak peek!

My “signature” shoe shot…gotta have ‘em!

onOne Photo Shoot…

I got to “play” photographer for a photo shoot needed for the new version of Focal Point. Dan (if you didnt know Dan is the Product Manager for onOne Software) needed some images to use for demo and for testing the product.  I called in our newest Bliss Model, Tammy to be my model for the shoot.  Bliss makeup artist, Laura Goodrick from Blushing Beauty did Tammy’s makeup and my little sister, Courtney, was a wonderful little assistant.  Dan was busy with the video camera so I had to make my own crew.  We headed down to the Pearl District to shoot in Tanner Springs Park. We of course did not plan for RAIN! But we did what we could. Courtney played Cabana Girl with the Umbrella…Can’t let the talent get wet!

In true Oregon style it only rained for a bit and then the Sun popped out so we could finish the shoot. I was very thankful that the rain stopped! Here are a couple more images I shot…

Thanks Ladies for your help! Dan and I appreciate it!
