Locks of Love Event

Was a Success!  I want to thank everyone who participated. I am so happy to be sending off a box full of hair! I hope everyone is excited about their “new” look!  Thanks also to Leslie (from Divine by Design Salon) for co-hosting this event with me and for giving me A ROCKING HAIR DO! I know many of you may have already seen these images on facebook but I know there are those who do not follow facebook but check the blog (if you want to add me as a friend search whitney@blissstudio.net) Leslie and I are going to make this an annual event so if you were not able to participate this time…Start growing that hair this next year and you can join us next August!  It is a wonderful cause and I know there were a few of you who wanted to donate but did not have enough hair.  Here is a few images of the event which was held at Divine By Design Salon in Springfield, Oregon. Plus a few before and after shots of a couple people and the grand finale…My Before/After shot. For those of you who didnt know…I have not had short hair in over 12 years so I was a little nervous. I gave Leslie permission to do whatever she wanted and she rocked it.  She designed a hair style that couldnt be more me.  I will admit I am still getting used to it…but its fun and funky!  If I had Leslie live in my house so every morning she could fix my hair….that would be AWESOME!  Instead I have to figure out how to “fix” my hair. It should be interesting.

We had a cake made at PC with the Locks of Love logo on it.

A couple of people getting their hair cut by Leslie.

onOne Software Photo Camp Part #2

The end of the photo camp day was held at Portland International Raceway (PIR) where we watched Brian’s brother race.  This was to give everyone some experience shooting action shots.  We got special permission to enter the track to get more “up close” for our shots.  However the day did not end well as my hubby ended up getting run over by a biker who wrecked.  Thankfully Dan is doing well with just a few bumps and bruises. His iphone on the other hand did not survive the crash.  Before our trip was cut short I was able to snag a few photos…

I thought the little kids racing were adorable…

My hubby trying to get the “perfect” shot.  Brave and I remember thinking what an idiot for “laying on the ground”.  Hard to get out of the way when you are already down.  (sorry honey)  However he was standing when he got ran over. Knocked him down though.

I posted below some field shots of Dan and I. We also snagged a couple of Jonny so he could have a piece of the beautiful light. First here is my shot of Jonny…

And then Dan’s take…

Just a field shot to remind me how beautiful “Golden Hour” is…

onOne Software Photo Camp Part 1

Last Thursday my husband was helping teach some of onOne Software’s employees some photography. The had a “Photo Camp” for everyone to go out in the field and actually shoot.  One of the stops was out our house for a in-home lighting lesson.  Brian Kraft brought his wonderful family over so they could bake some cookies in our kitchen.  The kids were adorable in their little cooking outfits!  After shooting some indoor shots we headed into our backyard for the Kraft Family Session :)    We were just waiting for the cookies to finish but why not take advantage of our willing models? Here are my images from the outing…

There was of course no way I was letting those kids leave without a couple of photos. Cute kids have to get some Bliss Love…

Jonny…Joining the Kraft family. Or just trying to interrupt my shot? hmmmmm….

Brian…What a goof!

Us!

Its a rare occasion that I have shots of both Dan and I.  Good ones that is.  I think the last ones are from our wedding 5 years ago.  We have the arm out shot that we take ourselves or shots of each other but never fun shots of us together. You would think with all the photographers that are around us we would have plenty of opportunity…but nope.  So last week (thur) we went to the MotorCross Races at PIR and I spotted this field of Cattails (have no idea if I am spelling that right??).  I knew the light was going to be perfect a little later in the evening and I actually needed a “before” photo of myself (I cut my hair for locks of love the next day…stay tuned for those images).  Our good friend Jonny went over to the field with us so I asked him to snag a couple quick shots of us.  Literally less then 5 minutes we took photos and I was so happy with the images Jonny got for us.  I want to give a HUGE thanks to him for taking these….They mean a lot to me!  So here is just a little bit of “us”…

Olivia’s Senior photos…

Olivia’s session was a blast!  We shot her images around the SE side of Portland for her Urban look and then in the Pearl District at Tanner Springs Park. Olivia had Rockin’ outfits for shooting funky, urban images. I LOVE the dresses she brought… Urban + Prom Dress is the BEST! I also love that we shot a couple shots with her soccer ball. I did not want to do the normal soccer shots so we went for “Hot chick with Soccer Ball”. I realize most of these images are more serious but Olivia is full of smiles and laughter! I just love her intense look and the way her eyes pop in her serious images. Thanks to Olivia for giving me the opprotunity to take your senior photos…It was a perfect day and we have some awesome images to prove it! And to mom (chris) I realize your daughter looks so grown up in these images…dont hate me! She is BEAUTIFUL!

First…I MUST have her SHOES!!!

And of course the boots…Although I think these were borrowed from a friend. So note to friend if you find your shoes missing…I might have taken them! Yes I “heart” shoes!

I realize this is not all about shoes lets back to Olivia…

Luke & Megan’s Wedding…

I have been working on getting this post up for Luke and Megan for a while now.  I am still working on their images and just decided I am going to post a few images now and add to this post soon. I dont want to delay any longer.  Thanks to Luke and Megan for your patience with me while I work on your images….Your day was beautiful and I am loving the images we got. The wedding was in Washinton at The Marshall House. The whole neighborhood where the house was is a different world. It was awesome!  The old victorian house was full of charm and photo ops everywhere I turned. Luke and Megan also made sure the little details of their wedding were fabulous. They had everything from the horse and carriage to the delicious desert table from Papa Haydens. YUM!  I am also IN LOVE with Megan’s fabulous custom designed ring! I could not get enough of it!  Special thanks to Luke and Megan for letting us be a part of your day. I also want to thank Catherine and Greg (who are a part of the Bliss Family as we shot their wedding a few years ago) for sending Luke and Megan our way! It was good to see you both again.

Here are a few images for now and I will update with a few more soon…

Here are a couple more images as promised…

Sam’s Boudoir Session…

I have been holding on to this session for a couple months now. Sam came in for her session as a surpise for her anniversary which is TODAY! I wasn’t allowed to post anything until after the anniversary just in case Jon was visiting my blog. So first….Happy Anniversary to Jon and Samantha! I cant believe its already been a year. It has flown by!  Secondly….Thanks to Sam for letting me post a couple images from your session. I hope you guys have a wonderful day and of course an awesome time in Seattle next week.  Here are a couple of my favorites…

Sophia’s One!

I have been working with little Sophia and her parents over the last year on Sophia’s 1st Year Album.  This was the final session for the album.  I am always happy to get the last session wrapped up so I can begin working on the album….But I am also a little sad….My little Bliss Kids grow up way to fast!  I am always amazed that a year went by.  Isnt it true the older you get the faster the days seem to go by? Remember when we were kids and couldnt wait for something….the days would drag on. What happened to that?  Oh well….Just keep enjoying life.  Back to the Goodricks….Here is just a couple of my favorites from their session. To Laura and Zeke thanks for your patience on your sneak peak. Hope you enjoy them as much as I do….

Life out Loud :)

My life the past few weeks has been a little more hectic than usual but I have still found some time to enjoy life in between the chaos.  Dan and I went to Seattle to visit Pike’s street and then to Sequim for their annual Lavendar Festival.  I have also been on the river boating twice, once with Larry and his wife Mary and once with my family.  And last but not least I went berry picking (YUMMY) with Samantha. I will be posting real shoots this week but I just wanted to share a bit of my “Life”.

First up is Seattle and Pikes Street. Which smelled like fish but I guess that is just part of its charm…

We spent the night in Seattle and then headed to Sequim the next morning for the lavendar festival.  Lavendar is so yummy!  The whole drive home our car was filled with Lavendar scent.  We ate and visited a couple of the farms.  Each farm had activites, booths, food and of course you can pick your own Lavendar (which dan did as I was afraid of bees).  Here is some of our adventure…

Next we have a couple of trips to the river….

Mary, Elizabeth and I on the back of their boat

On the day we went out with the Erickson’s there was an old fashioned boat show happening. It was amazing. I had never really seen old fashioned boats. It was like an old car show. This photo does not even do them justice but its a quick shot we took.

And lastly we have berry picking with Samantha…Going again soon! Fresh berries are the BEST!
