Reno-Sushi Teri

I have made it to Reno and of course I have to hit my favorite places while I am in town. I have a couple boutique stores that I LOVE to visit such as Lodo Loft.  Today I found a new gem that I am so excited about. Red Chair. It is a unique boutique that has a style that is new, funky and mid-century modern.  The owner, Aaryn Walker, is fabulous and is going to let me borrow a few furniture items for some shoots this weekend. I could not be more excited!  If you are in Reno take some time to check out her store!

Here is the store info:

Red Chair 6135 Lakeside Drive #135 Reno, NV 89511

I will post images of her awesome furniture soon so keep an eye out.

After we visit all my favorite boutiques….we start hitting my favorite places to eat. First (and usually a few more times than just once) is my favorite Sushi place.  It’s named after my mom (Teri)….Okay not really…but it helps add to its appeal.  It is the most hole in the wall place but is the best Sushi. The Lilly Roll is my favorite. The wonderful guys who work there make me whatever I want. They know “Miss Picky” has arrived when I come but they handle it with flying colors and make me smile. Hugo knows my family and knows that I must make a couple trips to visit Sushi Teri when I am in town. I thank them all for making me delicious Sushi!  Here is a couple shots from Sushi Teri…Including one of Hugo!  Thanks for letting me post your photo Hugo!

At last…Ciara & Josh’s Wedding…

Now for the official sneak peak.  The wedding day could not have been more fabulous. It had been really windy while we were there and I was nervous that it was going to be windy and chilly the day of the wedding. This was not the case.  The day was beautiful. We had a little wind but the small breeze felt wonderful.  It was also one of the only times the clouds did not roll in so we had a sunset. We spent several hours with just Josh and Ciara wondering around the resort. I always cherish this time with our couples. Its the calm before the storm. The time for the bride and groom to just enjoy each other and to be able to capture their Bliss. Since Dan and I had spent the week with Josh and Ciara we had already figured out how we were going to attack the day. We had chatted about the locations and images I could not wait to get. I can truly say that we had a blast being a part of this wedding. I loved that Ciara would introduce us to her family and friends by saying we were her Friends/Photographers. Friends being listed first. It is our goal to become friends with our clients and it is a wonderful to know the feelings are mutual. I want to give a huge Thank You to Josh, Ciara and their families for having us join them in Mexico. We loved being their to celebrate your love! See you in Reno in a couple days! Here is your Bliss…

UPDATE:

Just as a reminder of why I love what I do :)   A few minutes after I posted these images this is the email I received from Ciara (the bride)…

“Oh… gasp…. I’m just …speechless…..
I cried at the first picture!  I don’t think I can thank you enough… I mean…. wow… Whitney… WOW.
LOVE YOU SO MUCH!  THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!  Can’t wait to see you!!!!” -Ciara

And of course my heart melts!  It makes it all worth it! Thanks Ciara! Your email means a lot to us!

Mexico Details…

I thought I would start out by sharing some little details from Josh and Ciara’s wedding in Puerto Vallarta.  I have too many images I want to post so I am breaking it up a bit for you. Plus I know my bride and groom are dying for their sneak peak.

Hope these will hold you over for now…

Back in town…”almost”

It has been absolutly NUTS!  Feb has come and gone so fast. Dan and I have been traveling this entire month. I will be in Eugene today…home wed and part of thur and then off to Reno for 4 days.  Reno will be my last trip for at least a month. So I will be playing catch up the month of march :)   I will be back in the swing of things starting March. 3. If you need anything I am checking my emails as often as I can.

I have some exciting news to share very soon….check back!

Quick Peak from Mexico Wedding…

It’s going to take me a bit to get through editing all the wedding images but I really wanted to post this one shot.  Dan actually shot it so he can have full credit.  This is the Jetty that Josh and Ciara got married on (the chairs for the ceremony are set up to the right of the Ciara).  I will post a real sneak peak soon…

What did we do in Mexico?

Nothing! We spent almost everyday at the pool/beach and volleyball courts.  So I guess that is something?  Kim Welker….client, friend and guest at the wedding here took a couple shots of Dan and I. (THANKS KIM!)  We were all cracking up at the shot of us in the pool.  Well…Dan in the pool…..and me “pretending” to be in the pool. The last shot is of us at the rehersal dinner.  Stay tuned for more…

Here are a couple more photos from the Rehersal Dinner…

Since the rehersal dinner fell on Valentines Day they handmade special Valentine Cards for everyone…SO CUTE!

As a suprise to all the guests the bride and groom had fire dancers after the dinner

Check back soon for shots from the beautiful wedding!

Mexico…Pre-Wedding.

Dan and I have been having fun taking a few photos as we lead up to the wedding on Sunday. I wanted to share a few of them. First here is a couple shots of the resort we are staying in…

I of course have been playing volleyball everday for as many hours as possible.  Beach Volleyball is a lot harder then court…but its a great workout and a blast! Here is a couple shots of Josh (the groom), Ronnie (friend of the groom) and I playing some ball.

Stay tuned for a shot of the bride in groom in this awesome lifeguard stand…

Dan shot this beautiful shot of the sun peaking through the clouds…

Josh (the groom) with his new Hat!

There are lots of little creatures around the resort.  One in particular is the peacocks.  There are a few wondering around.  I have not got a shot with the feathers up “yet”.  Hopefully we will get a shot before we leave.  Here is a couple I was able to get so far…

Vote for Favorite Wedding Vendors!

One of my wonderful brides from the summer, Debbie, just emailed to let me know that Oregon Bride Magazine has a Vote for your favorite wedding vendor section. Winners will be announced in the fall/winter 2009 issue of the magazine.  There are many categories….Of course one is “Wedding Photographer”.  If you wish to vote for your favorite vendors you have to fill out a minium of 10 categories.  It just takes a minute and I am sure all your vendors would be thankful!  Here is the link to VOTE!  Thanks a ton to Debbie for voting for us and spreading the word!

Puerto Vallarta!

I am in Mexico!  Some of you may have seen my newsletter that said I would be shooting an awesome wedding in Cabo?  Well….I am crazy…The wedding is NOT in Cabo nor are we.  We are in beautiful Puerto Vallarta! When we landed though the fight attendant said welcome to Cabo! I was cracking up….I must be in Cabo?  Dan and I flew here yesterday and had a small layover in L.A.  As we were waiting for the flight to PV we ran into our Bride and Groom!  Josh and Ciara were flying from Reno but somehow we managed to book the same exact flight AND the same exit row!  It was great! I have a couple photos that I will post soon….

Please know that I have NO phone service while I am here until next monday.  If you need anything please email me. I will be checking emails when I can. Will keep everyone posted on our fabulous vacation!

*UPDATE*

Here is a couple shots from the airport of Ciara & Josh…

Ellie Cross

I was really looking forward to my session with Ellie. She came to the studio with her mom from Eugene. Ellie is the middle child of 4 (older sister and two little brothers).  I have taken photos of the family in the past but enjoyed the one on one time with Ellie. Thanks to Ellie and Michelle for coming to see me! I had a great time. We will be entering her into the “America’s Cutest Kid Contest.”  I will post her entry as soon as we pick one. Until then here are my favorites…
