Album Templates for Photographers

I always swore I would never sell templates…but with a little poking and prodding…I was convinced! I am not doing it on my own though…Instead I have teamed up with my fabulous lab White House Custom Color.  They sell templates from a handful of designers that range from press printed cards all the way to albums.  I will be working on more but for now my first album is now up and ready to be purchased!  Its a wedding album template.  My template is a little different as it is based mostly on images. There is not a lot of extra fluff other than some quotes and a couple adornments.  I tried to keep it a classic wedding album that will still maintain style as the years pass. Keep your eye out for more Wedding and Boudoir templates by Bliss Studio!  Here is how to view/purchase the album…

Bliss Lighting Workshop-Recap

I wanted to share a few images from the Lighting Workshop that Dave Hutt and I taught a couple weeks ago at the studio.  We taught the “Rules” of lighting and then how to break them!  Okay…There is not “Rules” that you must follow but we taught more of an understanding about what different lights do and how they affect the subject. We taught how to use strobes and then how to not. It was a full day of information that left our students overwhelmed! In a good way that is! I want to thank everyone who attended! Dave and I had a really good time and are excited to announce our next workshop will be Nov. 1! If you are interested let us know!

Here are a couple of images from the day…

Dave taught the first half of the class and I failed to take any image (Sorry Dave!) I think I might have been nervous about my half :)   He managed to snag a few images of my part…so THANK YOU DAVE for taking a couple photos and for letting me use them on my blog!

Here are a couple of my images that I took of our Bliss Model, Tammy!

One of our students, Scott Crist, being a cloud for Tammy (Thanks Scott)…

Which resulted in this shot…

A couple of testimonials from the workshop (thanks guys)…

“I really wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed the workshop on Sunday. Wow, was I tired after! I look forward to more workshops with you guys.” -Jasmine P.

“I wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed the workshop on Sunday. It was fun, as well as informative and the day just flew by! I loved the diversity of styles and the models were great. I would definitely be interested in any other workshops that you offer and look forward to hearing about future ones.” -Debbie D.

onOne Software Photo Camp Part #2

The end of the photo camp day was held at Portland International Raceway (PIR) where we watched Brian’s brother race.  This was to give everyone some experience shooting action shots.  We got special permission to enter the track to get more “up close” for our shots.  However the day did not end well as my hubby ended up getting run over by a biker who wrecked.  Thankfully Dan is doing well with just a few bumps and bruises. His iphone on the other hand did not survive the crash.  Before our trip was cut short I was able to snag a few photos…

I thought the little kids racing were adorable…

My hubby trying to get the “perfect” shot.  Brave and I remember thinking what an idiot for “laying on the ground”.  Hard to get out of the way when you are already down.  (sorry honey)  However he was standing when he got ran over. Knocked him down though.

I posted below some field shots of Dan and I. We also snagged a couple of Jonny so he could have a piece of the beautiful light. First here is my shot of Jonny…

And then Dan’s take…

Just a field shot to remind me how beautiful “Golden Hour” is…

onOne Software Photo Camp Part 1

Last Thursday my husband was helping teach some of onOne Software’s employees some photography. The had a “Photo Camp” for everyone to go out in the field and actually shoot.  One of the stops was out our house for a in-home lighting lesson.  Brian Kraft brought his wonderful family over so they could bake some cookies in our kitchen.  The kids were adorable in their little cooking outfits!  After shooting some indoor shots we headed into our backyard for the Kraft Family Session :)    We were just waiting for the cookies to finish but why not take advantage of our willing models? Here are my images from the outing…

There was of course no way I was letting those kids leave without a couple of photos. Cute kids have to get some Bliss Love…

Jonny…Joining the Kraft family. Or just trying to interrupt my shot? hmmmmm….

Brian…What a goof!

Before and After…

I love this shot I took of little Demi last week. Its a good example of how even though I “see” a shot its not always the way I had envisioned it until I put my finishing touch on it.  When I edit I do add a finish to most of the images but there is always a few that I want to add a little extra special “Whitney Twist” to it. I know you guys all get to see the finished product but this one had a dramatic change that I thought you might like to see a before and after.

Here is the Before (still a good shot…just not quite the punch I wanted. I was drawn to the tuscan wall and the way the light was falling across it)

You might be thinking that shot is just fine? And that might be the case. However it wasnt quite what I wanted. So with a little work on the image here is the final look that I was hoping for…

An official sneak peak for the Reynolds family will be up soon…Just wanted to share a little from the other side! Enjoy!
